The Tunnel That Moves

"as i enter a new hyperfocus the previous ones become dead no matter how valuable they" — 2025-07

Static Tunnel (Traditional View)

"Autistic people have narrow interests."

  • Same topic for years
  • Unchanging focus
  • Predictable depth

Moving Tunnel (The Poly Pattern)

The tunnel isn't static. It's a searchlight on a swivel.

  • Points at something: total absorption
  • Moves on: previous thing dies
  • Points at new thing: total absorption
  • Repeat

The narrowness is constant. The target changes.

Why This Matters

Traditional autism framing misses this pattern.

If your tunnel moves, you look "less autistic":

  • Multiple interests (not "restricted")
  • Varied projects (not "repetitive")
  • Broad knowledge (not "narrow")

But the mechanism is the same: single-channel, deep, complete.

The Gift

Every domain gets your full attention.

Few people can go this deep this fast. The tunnel isn't a limitation — it's a superpower pointed at different things.

The Curse

Every domain gets abandoned.

When the tunnel moves, it doesn't leave a thread behind. It leaves a corpse.
